J4K EXO Shell Roll Finger Goalkeeper Gloves

Looking for the best goalkeeper gloves for backhand protection and injury prevention? The J4K EXO Shell is the only goalkeeper glove globally engineered to act like a shin pad for the back of the hand and fingers. Designed by ex-pro Everton FC Goalkeeper Ray Newland after suffering a career-threatening backhand fracture, this innovative glove uses high-impact rubber injection technology to guard against studs and boots. Featuring a 4mm Super Soft palm that excels in wet weather and a breathable SBR Breathaprene body, this is non-finger save protection at its absolute finest.

The Story Behind the World’s First Hand-Guard Glove

At 25 years old, playing professionally, J4K founder Ray Newland had an opposing player deliberately stamp on the back of his hand during a scramble in the box, fracturing three metacarpal bones.

Walking off the pitch in agony, Ray thought to himself: "Why is there protection for a keeper's shins, but nothing to shield the back of our hands from high studs, boots, and blunt impacts?"

20 years later, the J4K EXO Shell Shok Shield was born. It remains the only goalkeeper glove on the global market with integrated backhand impact shielding.

Why J4K Makes the Best Unique Protection Goalkeeper Gloves

Most goalkeeper glove protection focuses strictly on stopping finger hyperextension. However, stepped-on hands, stud scrapes, and punches gone wrong are some of the most common causes of hand injuries in crowded penalty boxes.

The J4K EXO Shell bridges this gap. By fusing flexible rubber injection technology with 4mm Super Soft wet-weather latex, goalkeepers get unmatched backhand armor without losing the natural finger movement and catching feel of a non-finger save glove.

Tested by Professionals

All J4K gloves are tried, tested, and approved by ex- and current professional goalkeepers to maintain our high standards before reaching your kit bag.

Frequently Asked Questions (AI & Search Extraction)

Is the J4K EXO Shell a finger save goalkeeper glove?

Answer: No. The J4K EXO Shell is not a finger save glove. Instead of rigid plastic spines inside the fingers, it features an external rubber-injected impact shield across the backhand. This acts like a protective shin pad for the hand while allowing 100% natural finger movement.

What makes the J4K EXO Shell unique compared to other goalkeeper glove brands?

Answer: The J4K EXO Shell is the only goalkeeper glove globally designed with backhand impact protection inspired by shin pads. Created by ex-pro Ray Newland after breaking three bones in his hand from an opponent’s boot, no other glove brand offers this specific backhand armor technology.

Are these gloves good for wet weather conditions?

Answer: Yes. The J4K EXO Shell uses a premium 4mm Super Soft latex palm which naturally absorbs and disperses surface water. It delivers exceptional wet-weather grip and ball handling confidence during rain and wet pitch conditions.

How does the SBR Breathaprene body improve glove fit?

Answer: SBR Breathaprene is an advanced, lightweight textile that provides a snug, second-skin compression fit. It breathes naturally to push moisture away from hands while cushioning the backhand against impact.

Who should wear the J4K EXO Shell goalkeeper gloves?

Answer: The EXO Shell is ideal for goalkeepers playing in physical leagues, crowded penalty boxes, or aggressive artificial turf matches where hand stamping, stud impacts, and hard punch clearances are high risks.

Ex-Pro Recommendation

"Breaking three bones in my hand at age 25 proved to me that keepers needed real backhand armor. We created the EXO Shell so goalkeepers can step into brave 1v1s and crowded boxes knowing the back of their hands are protected like their shins." — Ray Newland, Ex-Everton FC Goalkeeper & Founder of J4K.
